The Ford Ranger is a mid-size pickup truck that delivers rugged performance on any surface condition. The XL, XLT, and Lariat trims are equipped with a 2.3L turbocharged EcoBoost engine that delivers 270 horsepower and 310 pound-feet of torque. A 2.7L EcoBoost engine, available as an option on the XLT and Lariat trims, generates 315 horsepower and 400 pound-feet of torque. Finally, a 3.0L EcoBoost engine, exclusive to the Raptor trim, boasts 405 horsepower and 430 pound-feet of torque.
All three trims feature automatic start and stop technology that will temporarily shut off the engine while idling to save on fuel. The Raptor trim also comes with 2.5-inch Fox live valve shocks, a watts link rear suspension, and electronic-locking rear differential.
The 2.3L engine is paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission and the choice between rear-wheel and all-wheel drive. However, both the 2.7L and 3.0L engines come exclusively with all-wheel drive capabilities for better handling on rough terrain. When properly equipped, the maximum towing capacity of the 2.3L and 2.7L engines is 7,500 pounds, but the 3.0L engine is limited to 5,510 pounds.
